Yorkshire Pitch Services have worked with Tickhill Juniors FC for a number of years and have seen the club expand and grow. The pitches had minimal maintenance which had led to a compacted uneven surface, little grass coverage and lots of weeds. Initially we worked on a regular programme of mowing and fertiliser applications. Through the winter months we implemented a programme of deep and shallow slitting - this greatly improved the playing surface but the compaction was still an issue. We now carry out linear aeration twice a year with some high wear areas getting three visits. Very few fixtures are now cancelled due to the improved drainage. The site has doubled in size in recent years to approximately 30 acres enabling multiple teams to use the facilities. Our tailored maintenance programme means the pitches can be used throughout the year. We are proud to be a part of the clubs success and continue to work with them to improve the facilities.
Scawthorpe Scorpions FC approached us after being awarded a PIP grant. Their existing pitches were compacted having only received the minimum of aeration. The pitches were worn bare in areas with lots of surface undulations. Their PIP report had advised the pitches were aerated, overseeded, top dressed and fertilised. This was all undertaken by Yorkshire Pitch Services and has made a huge difference to the appearance, health and vigour of the grass sward. This has in turn greatly improved the playing surface. We look forward to continuing to improve these pitches with ongoing aeration programme.
